I would like to express my interest in studying at the XYZ during the 1st semester next year as the Erasmus student. In the following letter I will introduce myself and explain why I think that XYZ is the right university for me.
My name is xx and I am currently studying at xx. I have always lived in (country), but studying abroad has been always part of my plans. There are several reasons why I have decided to apply for the Erasmus program. First of all, I believe this is the best opportunity to deepen my knowledge in a multicultural environment. Also, it would definitely be a spontaneous and very efficient way to learn a new language and improve my English. I have been learning English for nine years, but I must admit that I mostly come in touch with English only as a ''passive recipient'' and I speak it only rarely. That is what I would like to change and taking part in Erasmus represents a golden opportunity.
I think that the most attractive benefit of the Erasmus program is getting to know other Erasmus students from the whole Europe. I think studying, living and having fun with international group of students would broaden my horizons and enable me to build friendships with young people within the whole Europe.
The Erasmus program seems like the perfect opportunity to meet a completely different culture, learn another language, experience other educational system and enrich my curriculum vitae, as well as gain more independence. Portuguese culture is, I believe, very different from mine and that is a plus when choosing my destination.
Last but not least I would have a chance to compare the Portuguese system of education to the (country) one. XYZ appears to be the perfect complement to my education. It would enable me to develop a strong background of knowledge from a different view than my current studies and that would give a significant plus to my career.
I am confident I would prove to be an enthusiastic and hard working student.
